Bypass
Well, folks, my big day is Sunday, the 2nd. So far, I plan on either spending the day away from the phone, or at a friend's wedding the same day. If I'm not partying, I'd rather be isolatedly alone. My mother has already ruined any desire for festivities this year.
After my birthday, I'll change the name of this room to Halloween/Samhain.

'Tis done here...I *love* this time of year...
Mina
It's beautiful, isn't it?
Bypass
I used to love this time of year, but I hate damp cold, as I always will, and I find that not having money for candy, parties, or costumes is the most depressing thing. However, watching Megan getting all excited about dressing up is cool. I had such dreams for myself as a kid, and now I'm so discombobulated about my life that I have trouble plugging into Megan's dreams so that I can make them come true. That, also, is depressing.

Aw come on Bypass, cheer up...Don't you realize you get all that candy to pick through after the child goes to bed???? I hated that as a kid, I didn't get to taste a Mars bar or a Milky Way until I was old enought to buy them for myself cause mom hosed them out of my bag....

It's Hallowe'en,
The full moon is seen,
To silhoutte a cat.
The crowd will boast,
Goblin and ghost,
And witch with pointed hat.
The leaves are red,
And it can be said,
The air is brisk and cold.
Short is the day,
But voices are gay,
And spirits feeling bold.
The harvest is done,
Now begins the fun,
Walking street to street.
The pumpkins glow,
The way to show,
To find another treat!
Then off to bed,
The mortals head,
The party was such fun.
Now owning the night,
The spirits are spright,
'Til rising of the sun.

I love October...

Its the time of spooks,
of strange old koots
and the time to be aware,
that the night sky is no longer there.
Beware.

Is anyone getting one of those OJ Simpson costumes for Halloween?
Mina
Not me, but I would be interested in seeing one.
Glunkly
halloween is my birthday
Ray
the OJ mask is the biggest seller, in CA, this year.

well OJ Simpson can kiss my A$$

If more folk realized the purpose (originally) of Samhain costuming was to dress to influence the coming year, fewer folk would dress in negative style costuming.
Me, I will dress at night in ritual robes, the party I may go to as a witch--i.e. just me!
Bypass
Ray, I trust that you're serious, but that IS a scary thought!! The success of media marketing . . . Glunkly: What Ray said, only in reverse! Happy Birthday, Dude! You should go trick-or-treating with a shotglass! :)
Sharon: Lovely poem! I've captured it.
My daughter wants to be Cinderella for Halloween. Cool. A light colored gown. No prob. Now, how to get the details for the thing!!! :(
Bypass
I was thinking of going as an unregistered illiterate voter. Is that scary enough? Nah: a REGISTERED illiterate voter!!! >=9
Nah, it'd never work. One has to know how to read and write to register to vote, but almost no one would catch the technicality. ;)
Maybe I'll go as a political subversive: a caring parent involved in child's school and upbringing. That's >gotta< scare >some<body!! ;) Maybe I'll masquerade as a Canadian citizen . . . Nah, I'd be deported. By friends!!! :) Any ideas, anyone?
Bypass
P.S. I like Starshadow's ideas, and yes, they are the original traditions.
Sharon Ann Campbell
Thankyou, Bypass!
Ray
I am serious about the OJ mask, in that I heard it on the news....
As for costume, I'm going to each and every party, gathering, function.
Look for me! I'm going as the Invisible Man....

<<snicker>> RAY!!!
love it.
Ray
(thanks ZK... most of my offbeat humor is so far out, that few people catch it. I mainly do it for my own amusement, but it's nice to get a reaction, now and again. I recently posted, in one of those "what turns you on" rooms, a statement like: The pure pleasures of killing a living thing.
Not a single come-back. I'm really not a looney, although the tune sometimes fits. I just LOVE play-on-words, semantics, puns, and the "brash statement, for the sake of seeing the reaction of others". I'm really just a big kid at heart, and nearly everything I post is ment to be pleasurable for both parties. I would NEVER, NEVER post anything intended to be offensive.
