I think my local uuencode and decode are working fine now that I re-wrote the scripts.
Do you have a unix-shell account? We could set up a time and you could simply FTP or TELNET to my machine at home and do a regular U/L and D/L ... I set it up yesterday and did a test and my server is working fine. The only thing at this point is that I have to be currently online with my provider for you to be able to FTP to my machine.
It might be as simple as doing a PING to my address to see if I'm currently online or not, and then doing an FTP to my site.
I might get a second line so that I don't have to keep taking down the board so that I can use my tcp/ip and xwindows ... that would make it a lot easier.

I went ahead and set up to do both (AHQ and TMM). The packets you've sent so far have incorporated just fine. I just blew the roomreq mail you sent... Exported the message to roomreq.tmm, and forgot to edit out the extra stuff. I found a whole new version of a roombomb!!! Oops...
Yeah, my account is a shell. So it would be easy enough to FTP your direction, like you mentioned. But... Odds are that you'd be offline when I tried. My dial-in happens at completely random intervals...

re AHQ and TMM, I can set up both if you like ... might be over-kill tho. AHQ hardly nets many rooms ... (tho obviously it nets this one.)
I'm going to work on seeing if there's an option to have a DIALOUT slip so that my computer would answer anytime you FTP'd to it ... I'll check into that, but don't expect it too soon. :)

This has been a fun adventure folks but it's time for cbl.sea to go away. I want to thank you all for being so tolerant and benign. I am moving onto the unix environment where I belong, I will be killing cave bear's laire and shelving my copy of citadel onto a cd rom disk so if you want to be immortalized, better have your say within the next 30 days or so. I want to thank the development team of Brent, Richard, Elisabeth, Max, Don and whomever else was involved with Citadel+ and is unknown to me. My net partners from Texas to Seattle and most of all, the callers who repeatedly kept calling no matter what system I ran. This was a wonderful period of time for me. Thank you all.

from what I can tell, Linux is the cheapest way to do the duck into UNIXland
sensible move for trying a new OS, as well, and SJ tells me that there is an
alpha application that will allow running Windows apps, so if you are using
them, you don't lose your investment or use of them while you are switching
oh, yeah...I see UNIX as a challenge...and a worthwhile one to invest the
time and energy into, and gawhd knows there are so few things worth that
at least, not anymore...

Heather, it's much cheaper than that. Counselor, I haven't picked a 'name' for my node yet, that has to be approved by the NIC or some such committee. My IP address will stay the same. My current e-mail address is "josephc@seanet.com" but will change. I'd like to name my node something different like "byteme.com" or similar. Incidently, "cave bear" is now and forever dead. Livia, you're right, I had left before and came back. Each time seeking a better citadel for myself and my callers. The software development is excellent, but it is time to finally move on. I will call on occasion to some of the cits because I genuinely like the atmosphere, but I find unix appealing and a challenge. I think I will miss you most of all because of your frankness. If I ever meet you I would like to shake your hand.
One last item I would like to devulge. I am a former construction worker, police officer, nurse and surgical tech just to name a few of my former occupations. I like trying different things. If I have one particular fault it is there. If I choose to try something else and it doesn't pan out, I hope you guys, and particularly you livia, don't hold that against me. I wish you all well and great health.
Cave Bear's Laire will be going down for good NLT the end of the month. I am in the progress of installing the Linux OS and creating all the necessary things I need to switch over. I am missing only my 3com ethernet card and the startup fee for my internet node (as apposed to my current slip/ppp)

To tell you the truth, I have no idea whether or not you can telnet into Horizon. I _do_ know that yankee (the sysadmin) closed up the user directories, after one user traipsed through the whole tree, tinkering around with various setups... I don't know what to ask him to make mine accessible from outside, either. Maybe you could help? yankee@horizon.wa.com

With yours up full-time, the request to yankee wouldn't be necessary... And it'd sure be easier for me. We still haven't figured out the trouble with SZ from his end. SZ via telnet is fine, but SZ from Horizon is ugly, to say the least.

and, the reason I don't find another site is because it's my current THANG to
play with tcp/ip under os2 and now I _want_ to set up a dialout slip.
I'm in no rush. Besides which, I'll be gone for most of november anyway and
it's pretty silly to get it all set up now since I won't be able to really have
it _ALL_ (and having it ALL is the point isn't it?) until december anyway.
hell, I'm even planning to set up a gateway from cit to the usenet soon, if I
get it to work.

something to consider in /066 would be to make giving an account node status generate an automatic piece of netmail to sysop @ that node. it wouldn't do much good if you were its first connect, of course, but tat usually isn't
