Oberto Sausage Co., the nation's biggest beef jerky maker, said Thursday it is expanding its line of products to include turkey jerky in teriyaki and pepper flavors. The Kent, Wash.,-based family-owned company, which has a big share of the $510 million meat snack market, said the new turkey jerky is even lighter than its traditional 97 percent fat-free beef jerky products. Turkey jerky is 98 percent fat free, weighing in at just 0.5 grams of fat, it said. "With the tremendous appetite of today's consumer for novelty in general and chicken and turkey products in particular, it made sense to adapt our market leading beef jerky recipes to turkey," said Laura Oberto, president of Oh Boy! Oberto.
