The version I had running was 1.01. Then I got 1.02 and it crashed itself. The extern program would get into a loop and never end. Now ver 1.03 is here and I can't even get the editor to work. If I still had 1.01 I would run it.
#868 55 Fri Jan 24 09:30:06 1992 Captain James T Kirk @ Columbia Crest BBS, Olympia, US 206 786 9248
Hmm. Both the editer and the Extern work okay, for me. Local that is, I don't have it up on the board yet...
#869 55 Fri Jan 24 09:30:29 1992 Captain James T Kirk @ Columbia Crest BBS, Olympia, US 206 786 9248
So, right now, it s just hogging 2 megs of my hard drive...
#870 55 Sun Jan 26 15:36:33 1992 Captain James T Kirk @ Columbia Crest BBS, Olympia, US 206 786 9248
TW runs fine from remote too. My problem is that i was using the WWIV setting. That one dosen';t work. You have to use the QBBS one...
#871 55 Mon Jan 27 06:33:35 1992 [sysop] Steve Baxter [206-786-9248] @ Columbia Crest BBS, Olympia, US 206 786 9248
I'm using -qbbs for TW. Do I need switches for the editor and extern programs?
#872 55 Mon Jan 27 06:57:37 1992 Captain James T Kirk @ Columbia Crest BBS, Olympia, US 206 786 9248
I don't use any chain.txt for the editer or external. They don't need them. I just run the external from a Cron, that shells, goes to the tradewar dir, and runs. Extern. hmm. I 've never tryed using the switches on the other 2 programs... just on the tw2002.exe ...
#873 55 Wed Jan 29 09:05:17 1992 [sysop] Steve Baxter [206-786-9248] @ Columbia Crest BBS, Olympia, US 206 786 9248
I wonder what my problem is??? I've tried it with the entire system available. (Not just a slot in DESQview.) I must have the subdirectories set up wrong. The newer version said something about specific directories and batch files. Maybe I should read the docs - again.

Subdirs? it's all in one dir over here... The TradWar dir, under /Dcit... all i did to set it up is, ran the big exe arj file, then ran the other 3 arj files, then ran BigBang. And it worked... only prob i had was that i was using the WWIV thing, not the QBBS one...
#875 55 Wed Jan 29 15:38:09 1992 [4-D...] Captain James T Kirk [Coooooooooool...] @ Columbia Crest BBS, Olympia, US 206 786 9248
Oh yea, isn't the big exe arj file,(the one i d/led) isn't it suposed to start some other programe after it un-commpresses?

Netroute.zip is here now. Some docs are included.
#877 55 Wed Feb 12 19:39:21 1992 [Grr] LaDzhaRi [Rrg] @ Columbia Crest BBS, Olympia, US 206 786 9248
I had TW set up in a subdir of it's own. I had the maint program run once a day in a cron, along with all the other maintances for the other games. uhm, I used the WWIV file for months and months without a glitch, but when The Big Crash occured, I lost it all and it would never work right again. It kept crashing near the beginning with remote users. It may have had something to do with the fossil, but I don't htink so. The editor always worked for me under Desqview, everything ran fine under DV as soon as it got 7xxK dos memory with the VGARAM program (rad thing!), it works with EGA cards too. anyway, have a happy day! and tell me what's vbeen goin on', seems like the system is busy as ever.

I now have TWO tradewar games hogging hard drive space... One is a normal game, the other is going to be a Tureniment Game... With only 2 corps, and all players in one or the other corp... it'll be cool. I just have to get Opps. I just have to wait to get the registration card, so i can configure anything... I'm running them from the Tradewar and Trade2 dirs, one game per dir. With the QBBS chain.txt file... works great...

I don;'t run the editer or extern programes with any doorinfo files... they work fine without them...

Hay, what is the file named "bnu170.arj"?
#1525 55 Mon Feb 17 22:49:46 1992 [sysop] Steve Baxter [206-786-9248] @ Columbia Crest BBS, Olympia, US 206 786 9248
That's a fossil driver called BNU. (Fido Opus Seadog Standard Interface Link or something like that.) A FOSSIL is used for a lot of the linear boards to communicate with the modem. Citadels can use them too. Memory Alpha uses BNU and a front door program so users can select their choice of BBS's. She has Memory Alpha and Memory Prime openly available. There is a fossil that comes with OPUS that is supposed to be the best one for a CompuCom modem.

Hay Steve, I'm trying to figure out Quicknet... I d/led the Qnet stuff at Mem Alpha, but, the docs don't say much about how to actually set it up... Do you know how?

I haven't done it yet. I will use QuickNet with Shades and probably with Fred's Toy real soon. We should go to Net 1.6 It zips all the rooms together into one packet and is a lot faster. You'll dig it!
#2869 55 Wed Feb 26 07:04:56 1992 [Clear the roads...] Captain James T Kirk [Audin's in trafic safty...] @ Columbia Crest BBS, Olympia, US 206 786 9248
Ahh, i was thinking about that... I looked at it, the NightCit config.cit file had a much more esplanitory help message in it... All i need to know is weather to use Arj or Zip... IT LOOKS like it would use arj...
#2878 55 Wed Feb 26 09:39:43 1992 TUNA [is the SysStud at GEIL!] @ GEIL BBS, Olympia, USA 206-943-2136
that sounds cool.....it would make things easier, eh?
#2881 55 Wed Feb 26 11:39:07 1992 Captain James T Kirk
It would make things alot faster...... And it would only have to send 2 files, the room request, and the message Arj... Actually, PkZip would work fine, sence it's only text...
#3171 55 Thu Feb 27 14:51:19 1992 TUNA [is the SysStud at GEIL!] @ GEIL BBS, Olympia, USA 206-943-2136
