Captain James T Kirk
This room'll be a sysop only one when i get around to making a sysop group...
Flying Wombat
we'll just have to attract more of a 'scientific' audience, then..
where are some of these rooms, anyhow?
Hero
Blazing Anthropus is bouncing messages right back to me.
Livia
Steve, I told you both times that ACit is in the file UPDATE.ZIP in the room The ACit Test. Was there a problem downloading it?
Twoflower
Imnsho.
Waxed
No, Twof, you mean "IMNSHO." The other looks like a Japanese word.
Angela Davis
He probably typed IMNSHO. But it's all caps, so it got converted.
Angela Davis
The proper spelling is therefore:
IMNSHOx.
Twoflower
or better yet
'IMNSHO you asshole'
:)
Heather R. Scott
I like the Guest Account idea, Steve, and I think I'll be implimenting it...
Flying Wombat
it's back. I think.
Steve Baxter
Livia, Thanks. I guess I was just trying to be stupid. (Not that difficult for me.)
Captain James T Kirk
The Acit Test Room? Damn... I was there yesterday... looking for Acit... and didn't list the dir in that room.. damn... Now i gotta call back and d/l it...
Captain James T Kirk
Hay, I called a few Seattle boards last night to get a cuple other cit programes, Could the sysops of those boards let me into the dir rooms??? I used this handle... thanks..
Waxed
I knew'd that. :^)
Fred
FYI: CenCit is on the toy too.
Flying Wombat
James: which boards did you call? FrogCit is available on Aldur's Vale, and I can upload it to Mocha and TLC.. I don't usually bother, since (1) I'm too busy at work, and DOS Citadel is just there until I have time to work on something more interesting. but, you can have it, and any other Cit that can be had.
Beltira

What is the definition of a utopian society. Call YOUR MOM at 584-2853 and
ask her. She's here and she's not coming home.
Kaptain K Mart
CUz she's at Dougie's house doing whut she does best.
Bosozoku
Here ya go Apex.... Access to EVERYTHING on my board, until you call that is!
Apex
Hey hey hey. I'm the MAC daddy.
Jeremiah Johnson
TLC will probably be down for most of tomorrow night as I rework the system here, hardware hackers strike again :)
Jeremiah Johnson
Aaack. And now the line's hung busy or off-hook arbitrarily, depending on the whims of the Telco gods... Should be fixed by Thursday.
Captain James T Kirk
thanks, I'm just wondering where I can get cit programes, Sence i'm down in Olympia, It dosen't really matter where it is, All seattle boards cost the same to call... Is Aldur's Vale verifyed access? (I really hate calling a long dist board, just to find out i can't login...)
Little Nemo
hey... that happened to our line here, too. Both lines, in fact. SHorted out by the rain. If it's REALLY busy when you try to call... that may be why.
Heather R. Scott
Captain James T. Kirk, you have access to Memory Alpha now.
Fred
Is this room getting civalized, or is this just a trend?
Jeremiah Johnson
The telco guy said that it was rewired horridly weirdly until he came by & fixed it; it seems to work just fine now :)
New net grid by Sunday, I'm carrying the laptop with me until I get it done. Not too much more left to do, I need to go through the captures I made of Other Boards, Networking, and WAN Admin, then it'll all be ready to process...
Twoflower
Slumberland is down until US Worst fixes the phone lines in the house.
(for those nodes who didn't notice already.:)
Little Nemo
heh. Slumberland was already back up by the time Twof posted the above message... it just wasn't answering 'cause we were tweaking with the HD. :)
Special thanks to Waxed for fixing the line problem before US West could get their act together... we were without voice phone service here as well, it was NOT COOL.
With luck the line will STAY fixed, now.
Waxed
:)
Mr. Fixit. That's me.
Mucous
Well, the hole in the net has been patched. I took a little time to fix most of the netting problems today. Silly little things were screwing it up.
Bugs Bunny
Hey, anyone want to help a new board set of networking?
I'm interested in other boards, ads, sysop, computer, food, metaphysical and mayhap other rooms...
I'm running DC312A on a floppy system.
Saphyre
Shades will net with you Bug's especially metaphysical stuff!
just-george
Cap't James T Kirk: yes Aldur's Vale is verified access. However we can setup an account ahead of time if ya want to call. Just need yer inits and password in E-mail to Errand and it can be done. If ya have a way of net-mailing to us. ;>

TO SLUMBERLAND'S NET PARTNERS:
We are still having trouble with the Slumberland line. It could short out again at any moment. US West will be here on Saturday to fix things. Until then, be aware that Slumberland may be inaccessible for hours at a time. (It'll still be up, so keep trying to reach it... phone service is intermittent.)

Bugs is my old Co-Sysop from back when my BBS was a Citadel...
Heather R. Scott
Bugs Bunny, you finally get the board to work? :)
Starcrow
Hey, Bugs. Did you know that "Buggs Bunny" has 2 'g's? Anyway, I've been trying to get those Metaphysical rooms here in Spanaway for about 6 months now. Where is your system located?
Starcrow
Hey, Saph. How about me? Can I get those rooms? Please?
Just-George
K00l! I hope it works. Net-mail can be really tricky. ;>
Saphyre
Starcrow if you wanna net to Seattle I'd be more than happy to let you have them. I'll be working on my networking on Monday morning so give Shades a call make an account and try chatting me or at least leave a list as to what you want etc....
Little Nemo
"Bugs Bunny" does NOT have two g's!
Twoflower
To all nodes who net with me:
Some bug thrashed on the message base. Lost ALL messages since Saturday. Pisser.
King Royal
Ok, I'm just wondering, if you guys have put (Not the Real) Graceland in the net files...It will be located in Stockbridge Atlanta..(I've been getting messages that it can't find the route and stuff) soo...It doesn't have a phone # yet, and won't for probably a week or two, but I'll leave a message here with the # as soon as I can...as you know Pretty Eyes will be netting to here at her own expense.
Heather R. Scott
You still want to net then, Bugs?
Bugs Bunny
HRS: Yeah, the board works. I have a few users (8?) and they have already mananged to fill all the rooms with posts... Well almost all. I'm only having probs with netting and Filters right now.
Starcrow: As little Nemo already pointed out, Bugs Bunny has only one /G/. Also, my board is located in Seattle.
TwoF: Don't blame this Bugs! ==:)
Bugs Bunny
HRS, yeah, but let's limit it to the SYSOP type rooms only to begin with.
Little Nemo
I don't think it's Slumberland -- seems to net ok with Amber, as I recall. But I'll check.
Livia
Ahem.
For at least a month now, some node has been calling my board, pausing for a minute or two at the login prompt, then spewing out a few characters and immediately dropping carrier. This happens many times a day, and has become somewhat annoying. If any of my net-partners think it might be them, I'd appreciate their trying to track down the cause of it (for instance, force a cron event and watch, if you have that capability).
Kaptain K Mart
I'd be more than happy to net with some of you once I get my job.
Twoflower
Not me, Livia. But then again, Milliways doesn't call out.
I've had (i'd suppose a node) call, enter it's password/initials, get them wrong (for some reason), then hang up. This has been going on for a long time, though since it doesn't seem to be a major problem, I haven't bothered tracking it down.
NightHawk
maybe everyone is trying to control the net by entering the most frequent or largest messages until all other messages have scrolled from the net, leaving them the only ones with posts. Each other person of course is countering with a similar strategy.
My God! Everyone is out to control the net!!!
Steve Baxter
Captain Kirk,
That was my fault that we lost a few messages. I was in supershell and instead of exiting the shell, I thought I was at DOS. So I used the batch file to start the BBS. It configured itself in it's shell. Before I shut it down and dropped the shell, it called SFA to net. The messages we exchanged during that net were lost.. at least on my end.
Captain James T Kirk
Ohhhh, I've done that befor... anoying... but....
The errors are in a non netting room... I've gotten them befor, but only one at a time...
Heather R. Scott
Okay, Bugs, there are several... you've got access, tell me what you want.
Kid Charlemagne
damn. time for all you people to ask for line tests.... the telco has some VERY noisy interchanges between south seattle and edmonds, milliways and fantasia are getting dangerous as far as message entry is concern (stupid line noise issues commands while i'm still deciding what i want to do!)
Bugs Bunny
Hey! What happened to my Signature line?
She-Zog
Bugs... you definately pass ANY nut test.... you are a bona fide loony :)
Twoflower
CJTK: check to see how high your message count is set in your config.cit file.
If there is not enough room in the message base for all the messages allowed by your message count, the tables will continue to see those messages as being there, despite the fact that they are not in the message base. This can sometimes happen with new messages as well, for some unknown reason, their location in the message base gets lost by the table.
Try a reconfig (delete the ect.dat file). If that doesn't get rid of the problem, set your message count lower or increase the size of your message base. If this doesn't work, then it's not any of the problems I have encountered. :)
The Maven
Captain Kirk: Just change your NMESSAGES in your config.cit up a bit then reconfig, should fix your problem (like add around 50-100)
Bran Tregare
She zog, are you Gremlinked there at Fantasia??
Zog T. Barbarian
no
Starcrow
Saphyre: I will be glad to net with you, just as soon as I get some software that will call out on my system. I'm running MavenCit right now, and it doesn't seem to like calling out. I'm in the process of switching to Atlas, but am having some problems there, too.
Kaptain K Mart
StarCrow. I don't think you'd want to switch to Atlas just yet. The networking is still buggy. It kept displaying an error and locking up whenever it was in the middle of networking no matter what I tryed. John R. Dempsey doesn't know what the deal is either.
Valley Boy
Gremlink? What's a gremlink? Link me up, man.... I'm a gremmer!!!
Saphyre
Starcrow, There is a new Mavencit out....upgrade and call me voice, you can get the number from Mucous, I will make sure that you get the call out problem fixed if you want to net.
Gravity
I haven't encountered that problem. My problem with netting was only that I forgot what my board's password was. Other than that, my net seems to be working fine...
Doctor Dee
Net? Web? Any reverberations out there?
Starcrow
Well, apparently you got further than I did with Atlas, Ryan...
Saphyre
gotcha Doctor Dee
Kaptain K Mart
You goober.
She-Zog
no, we aren't.
Apex
My board has been crashing very frequently of late.
The Night Stalker
Startcrow: What problems are you having wil Atlas? I am running my files board on Atlas. Couldn't use MavenCit, scince I'm running a front door, and MavenCit takes too long to load with that Virus checker thing....
Apex
I'd be more than happy to net with some of you once I get KKM's job.
Kaptain K Mart
How did you get it to work?? Did you do anything special to it to get the
netting to work?
Kaptain K Mart
DUH! DUH! DUH! DUH! Yikes. !!! Cheetah is in this room. Anyway, this
room is for technical things about a BBS and ranking on other sysops.
Starcrow
Saphyre, I would get your number from Muke if I knew how to get ahold of HIM. Mucous, if you read this, CALL ME! PLEASE! I DO want to net to Shades, but refuse to do so until I can share the expenses...
Captain James T Kirk
Yes, what IS Gremlink... I;ve asked about 3 times now...
system
I ran atlas, then switched to cencit, and am now planning on switching back to atlas!
Striker
me, no i didn't do anything special.. i have to admit that it kept screwing up on the nets for a while but it seemed to fix itself.. (?)
Lucifer
Anyone have a complete source listing for whichever cit is written in Turbo C, or Turbo C++? Please respond, the most intense Cit is awaiting release ...
Kaptain K Mart
Weird. Such are computers.
Mucous
You can reach me at the bbs number. It's now a voice line, hooked up to an answering maching 24 hrs. Leave a message.
Mucous
Atlas ran with no problems, for me. All of the Cits I tried ran with no problems, once I fixed the little human screwups. There is one thing that I noticed about Atlas. It chews up memory. If you set the #MAXFILES too high (this is the maximum number of files Cit/Atlas will see in a directory), the program will run out of memory when allocating the number of slots specified. If this happens (too many slots are specified, and not enough memory to cover them), the users will not be able to see directories, and networking will also bomb. This could be a problem. I was not able to have this number set as high in Atlas as I was in GremCit, MavenCit, or DragCit. I was able to set it to 200, with those. With Atlas, I had to stay under 100. Stacker seemed to adversely affect this, too. It didn't cause much of a problem, when I finetuned it. I wasn't sharing more than about 5o rooms, so I could allocate enough slots to cover the 50 room files during networking, and none of my directory rooms had tons of stuff in them. I would have liked to have been able to allocate more slots, though.
Night Tracker
ask KKM, I know he has something.
Striker
I'm running Atlas... and I'm the newest Sysop in the tacoma area..
Gravity
Now I'm confused. I'm running ATlas and I have the MAXFILES set at 200, and everything seems to work fine. In fact, I'm confused why none of you (except Striker and myself) have been able to really get Atlas to work correctly...
Striker
We are special, Gravity.... WE ARE GOD!!!!!
Cheetah
what is this room for??
Cheetah
who?? me??
Starcrow
Well, thanks for the info, Muke, but I couldn't even accept callers. I don't think that had anything to do with #MAXFILES.
Cheetah: This room is for sysops to discuss the state of the network and to let each other know about problem with their boards and/or users. If you are not a sysop (i.e. have your OWN board), you should not have access to this room.
Cheetah
yah right...
Night Tracker
okay, I'm trying out Atlas again, and It seems to be working now. Although I am still having trouble after it networks, and tries to incorperate the Boards that are not in the route.cit file, and then It crashes, and I got a warning from Qemm (my memory manager). Then I added them to my route.cit manually and it seems to be working now.
Valley Boy
Get a grip, Striker.
Kaptain K Mart
I'm just about to call Love Pretty Colors and download the bug fix version.
It'll be available on my board.
Kaptain K Mart
Try netting with a board that has nodes that aren't part of your cron file.
A couple of BBSes worked fine but when I called out to Zuke's it would find
new nodes and edit my nodes.cit file and bomb. I will play around with the
maxfiles things though.
Night Tracker
I got it! There is a bug in the new Atlas. It's in the same place as the other one. Except you won't have any problems unless you use Qemm. I use it, and when it's installed It crashes. That's how I lost my message base. Other than That, I like this Cit the best, I would like CenCit, but it's TOO different than the other cits.
Night Tracker
Another thing that Atlas dosen't work with is a disk cache. Specifically Ncache from Norton Utilities.
Apex
Killer K Mart. Hey, our Minority CrossFire room isn't netting. And Jase, our OHELLYA room got changed to OHELLNO.
Captain James T Kirk
MavenCit has a Virus Scanner? I didn't know that... hmm..
Kaptain K Mart
OHELLNO! HA. I gotta quit changing names of networked rooms. I will
check up on Minority Crossfire for you.
Heather R. Scott
Did someone cross rooms? This is supposed to be NETWORK Admin... not Sysop Forum, or somesuch.
Gravity
The only problem that I've had with Atlas is that it keeps on giving THE WRONG NUMBER (a former BBS) aliases in the ROUTE.CIT file. I've got about 15 entries in it for The Wrong Number. The same alias every time. However, I've been running Atlas for a while now, and it seems to work fine with the netting for me. No crashing or anything. I don't know what the deal is, save that I guess K Mart and Night Tracker aren't special... :)
Kaptain K Mart
Well for me it always seems to lock up when it's updating the routes. Works
fine when I net with a board with no new messages.
Kaptain K Mart
I'm curious... How many MAXFILES do you have specified in your config.cit?
Gravity
WHY?!?!! Why si it only you who has problems!! Tell me WHY!!! I got this board from you so why is mine working fine whereas yours isn't?!?!?!?! Tell me, K Mart!!!
Kaptain K Mart
Minority Crossfire is netting fine. Some brand new messages from today
that are in there.
Apex
Valley Boy, our Diss on INFO room isn't netting either.
Gravity
If you're asking me, K Mart, my maxfiles is 200.
Starcrow
TNS: I get Atlas all set up, and running fine. Then someone calls in. It answers fine, but when it asks for initials, it just sits there. I can enter inits from the console, but it seems to be ignoring the modem once it connects. I've checked, double- triple- and quadruple-checked my config and modem strings, but for some reason it just doesn't like me at all....
Night Tracker
Why won't my board network private mail? When it's networking it says can't find path or file MAIL.???. My route.cit file seems to be correct, but I'm not sure.
Zog T. Barbarian
no we are not.
Napoleon
Captain James T. Kirk,
Don't worry about Gremlink. You can't use it. It extends the local calling area for some places in Seattle.
Apex
Thanks, It's CrossFire though I think.
Captain James T Kirk
If anyone cares:
Star Fleet Academy is now netting with GEIL BBS... add it to your route.cit's if you would...
TUNA
why thank you Audin...most kind of ya....
system
I had absolutely no problems setting up or running atlas, and I ran it off of floppy disks!
Apex
Are you sure that Minority CrossFire is working right KKM?
TD
OK. For people who I am going to be netting with:
I mentioned some months back that I was gonna have my own little section of the "main" BBS netted rooms since I wouldn't have the disk space for 100+ new a day in many of the rooms. I talked to Thought and he said right now that the programme only takes up about 250K on a disk, which leave me about 600+ and then another blank disk of 865K. Assuming I set up a big enough message base, I could actually handle the LOTS of messies, so I'll most likely be netting the big rooms then (but maybe still have a few small ones just to keep things slow on my system). Will fill ya in on details again in about another month or so.
Bugs Bunny
ok, I'm now networking Sysop and Meta/Magic rooms with Shades.
Soon, hopefully, I will be netting with Mem.
Now, is there anyone else who wouldn't mind netting a few rooms with me? Max of 20 rooms per board, due to limits on my side. I would like to net some fun rooms like:
Pillow Fight, Food, Fight, Pubs & Bars, Jokes, etc.
Things that are light hearted and fun!
I can be reached here or through Shades. Zip : AL
I would like about four or five net partners. Think of me as an alternate route for your rooms.
Captain James T Kirk
HA! it worked...
Captain James T Kirk
Yup.. gotta keep the net grid up-to-date.
Twoflower
TD: ok, just let me know when you get it set up...
Captain James T Kirk
Hmm, well, i was just wonderin' what it was...
Livia
Fred:
Your board has not been netting successfully with me lately: I get "No '...' room on remote" messages for all the rooms we exchange. I've sent you email (from another board), but pethaps it's not getting through. Any idea what the problem could be?
TaleTeller
The NeverMind will net with you if you want, I'll net with anyone. Almost.
Angela Davis
If you are having problems running Atlas, please upload a ZIP of your *.CIT files to Love Pretty Colors (525-3683), including a description of the problem
(if you're just having the problem with the autorouter locking up, don't bother. I'm working on that.)
Fred
Livia, I don't carry this room on the toy, so I just noticed your message. I think that your board may be the one that's been calling mine and not getting past the 'enter your initials:' prompt successfully. Turn debug on next time you net, ok? (the toy does carry WAN Admin, BTW).
Saphyre
Perhaps it would be smart to make a room for the discussion of the Atlas Citadel...that way Angela Davis wouldn't have to sort through here for your comments and we all wouldn't have to sort through here for what is supposed to be here....whatcha think?
Mark Willis
Night tracker" That really belongs in some other room :) Sounds like your transpath isn't there or isn't right though... Make the "Mail" directory if you haven't...
Kid Charlemagne
sounds like agood idea... you could call it "atlas's pulled hamstrings" or something... ":)
Twoflower
Wow, it looks like whatever bug is giving me the messages errors is also messing up networking... Saphyre certainly didn't call Milliways and leave that message.
Angela Davis
There is a room for discussion of Atlas stuff, called The New Wave. Paradise carries it--please pick it up from Paradise.
